Integrated Dry Needling and Acupuncture

Integrated Dry Needling Trapezius

Needling techniques that can be included in your treatment

Integrated Dry Needling (IDN) and Acupuncture are controlled acts in Canada that both involve the insertion of a very thin needle into the skin or muscle.

Our physiotherapists at Grindstone Physio have completed post-graduate training in both Integrated Dry Needling and Acupuncture.

Integrated Dry Needling vs. Acupuncture

Both techniques involve using a clean technique to insert a very thin, flexible, single-use needle into the skin, muscle, or connective tissue to effect change.

Integrated Dry Needling is a technique where the needle is inserted into a shortened muscle (trigger point) creating a twitch that will cause the muscle to relax and function better. The needle only stays in body for seconds.

Acupuncture is a technique where needles are inserted and stay in the tissue for a period of time (minutes) to stimulate blood flow and create a release of endorphins for pain control.

Integrated Dry Needling and Acupuncture are techniques that can be included as a component of your treatment plan. Your physiotherapist will speak with you about all of your options prior to initiating treatment.
